Sometimes it is good to be a devil’s advocate for your organization

I know you may be rest assured about formidability of your IT systems. Just try this tomorrow morning.

Go to a nework folder, or access the desktop of a user’s system and shift + delete + yes some important files.

Then try your systems to get the same data back in the same form when it was deleted.

I am sure, there are 99 percent of the chances you will not get the data in the same format. Your act of being a devil’s advocate will bring you to the reality ground.

That’s not all, try to find out who deleted the data in case if it was not you.

If you are not able to get your data in same latest form and know who deleted it, let me tell you, you are not in a great situation. What if any of your user deleted data from network or from his computer and your organization is chasing a project dealine, or tender timeline, or last moment customer submission?

There needs to be a better control on the situation. In no circumstances, you should be put in such a vulnerable situation where you can’t recover deleted data or can’t find out who intentionally deleted your data.

Please check my podcast after trying this safely in your organization, it will help indeed.
