Idea of Lockdown without Economic Loss

The government announced an extension of lockdown for two more weeks. Lockdown is like that high dose medicine with severe side effects. We want the effectiveness of lockdown to prevent community transfer of Covid19. We also don’t want our economy to buckle down due to lockdown. Lockdown and reasonable economic activities together sound impossible..

 

 

Three people (read avengers) together on the mission can achieve this impossible. Let us identify them.

 

 

Captain India can be our honorable prime minister Shri Narendra Modi. He is charismatic, super popular, and can connect with every Indian. We have seen his ability to attach with people in the time of hardships. Every Indian takes him so seriously. Remember the times of Demonetization, GST, Pulwama, Janta Curfew, and now lockdown. Our first avenger can influence people immensely. He can convince people to accept hardships in the hope of better times.

 

 

He or she is the earning member of the family. He or she can be a maid, worker, accountant, engineer, shopkeeper, executive, driver, doctor, entrepreneur, office assistant, supervisor, or whoever earns the bread for the family.

 

 

He or she is the dependent of our Universal Soldier. He/she is the support system for our Universal Soldier. He or she can be a wife, husband, mother, father, child, brother, sister, or whoever depends on the bread-earners of the family.

 

 

How do we achieve this impossible? Here is the answer. Captain India uses every means of mass communications and connects with our 2nd and 3rd avenger. It can be by series of direct addresses supported by emotionally appealing advertisements by influencers. There should be a specific message for the Universal Soldiers and Doremon-s.

 

 

Our Captain India can convince these Universal Soldiers on the following.

 

These universal soldiers can go out to earn for the family. Though they are not, but will behave as if he/she is COVID infected and try to save their loved ones from oneself. One will always put on the mask, follow social distance at work, and return to self-isolation at home. Come what may, this universal soldier will remain in isolation from the family and will not get close to the family and friends. He/she is the soldier who goes out to earn bread and practices restraint of isolation in family and social life. Captain India can make these Universal Soldiers do it.

 

 

Our Captain India can convince these Doremon-s on the following.

 

A. They follow the lockdown religiously by confining themselves at home.

 

B. They accept as if their Universal Soldier has to carry the COVID home. Every day, on return from work, they comfort him/her in isolation for the larger good of the family. They remind him/her to take all precautions as they care and love.

 

 

It mandates the utmost restraint by everyone. It will keep the economy running at a reasonable pace and contain community transfer significantly.

 

In moments of weakness, one avenger reminds another about duties beyond the emotions and regain consciousness.

 

In my opinion, if we Indians can understand this and fit ourselves into either role at every level of our demography, we can best serve our motherland. Over to you, Captain India.
