We are launching this FFS (Feature Focus Series) written by our product development team. In this series, we shall focus on one single feature of BLACKbox and elaborate for our partners’ understanding. Enjoy the video and read the 2nd episode of this FFS Series.
With due respect, Enterprises tend to underestimate BLACKbox as a dumb NAS Device or a File Server or a Firewall or Endpoint Security or Mail Vigilance System. This FFS (Feature Focus Series) is intended to break such notions that neglect the underlying technology powering BLACKbox.
In this series, we will take one single feature of BLACKbox and explain how it solves a serious problem, which otherwise cannot be solved by traditional solutions. Today, we are taking Vault and Workspace as a signature proprietary feature of BLACKbox and we will see how necessary it is for your organization.
Enterprises own digital assets in the form of data. It can be designs, drawings, cost sheets, documents, customer details, accounts data, formulations, MIS reports, foreign collaborated technology.
If this data is lost due to a ransomware attack, imagine the damages and cost of Business Discontinuity. Traditionally, firewall, antivirus, or both are deployed to prevent virus / ransomware enter enterprise’s computers. However, it may not serve enought. There are situation like, antivirus on any system is not updated, or a laptop is out of the firewall network,, or what if the ransomware is newly launched and your antivirus/firewall are not able to detect it. In such situation enterprise becomes victim of Ransomware Attack.
After ransomware attack happens, what will enterprise do if all its data is encrypted by ransomware, or what will enterprise do if the ransomware has encrypted the backups too? Enterprise may have a good plan A by deploying a Firewall and Antivirus, but it is the the reality that most organizations do not have plan B. Every enterprise needs a concrete plan B to recover data after a ransomware attack, rebound, and maintain business continuity with minimum downtime and data loss.
BLACKbox works as an AI-enabled data segregator. It identifies frequently modified data and separates it from old, frozen data which is referred by users but is never modified as it is past data of accounts, completed projects, finalized documents, etc.
The frozen and un-modified data is edit-locked in a vault and frequently used data is filed on a time machine on a workspace daily inside the hidden chamber of BLACKbox.
So at any point in time, enterprise’s past data is unmodifiable in the vault and the current data is available in daily past versions, as, yesterday’s workspace, the day before yesterday’s workspace, and so on for the number of days you decide. The vault and time machine of the workspace is stored in a hidden chamber (logically disconnected memory space) which is not visible or accessible over the network.
Let’s imagine that all data of the enterprise is lost due to a ransomware attack. The vault containing past data is unaffected as it is edit-locked. The workspace data will be lost. No problem, enterprise can shift to yesterday’s workspace on the time machine and continue your business at your organization. Not only that but also enterprise can subscribe to the BLACKbox data center service which keeps all the vault and workspace on an off-premise infrastructure.
This is one of the 50 discerning features of BLACKbox, which solves a genuine problem, breaks the notion about the reliability of plan A to deploy firewall and antivirus. It is good to have Plan A and it is better to have a Plan B.
Congratulations ! Your form is sumitted. You have chosen the Right Path
